Two more Covid-19 infection cases reported in Hai Duong

Three Vietnamese people have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 including two from the Covid-19 hotspot of Hai Duong Province, raising the total number of patients in the country to 2,579, the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday evening.

According to the ministry's report, the two new patients in Hai Duong Province are a 31-year-old woman and her three-year-old daughter who live in Kim Thanh District. They both had close contact with a person who was previously confirmed as Covid-19 patient.

The other patient is a 44-year-old woman who returned from the US to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City on March 22. She was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for coronavirus in his second testing on March 24.


The patient is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.

With these new infection cases, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,579, including 910 locally-transmitted cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28. Hai Duong Province alone has recorded 726 cases.

As of 6 pm on March 25, a total of 2,265 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, nearly 40,000 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
