Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCM City has continued facing congestion with the sharp rise in passenger numbers as Covid-19 has been brought under control in Vietnam.

On April 14, the airport saw 523 domestic flights and 64,000 passengers. The figure increased to 581 flights with 77,000 passengers on April 15 and 631 flights with 86,000 passengers on April 16.

A representative from the airport said that congestion often occurs in the morning, particularly at security screening areas although more staff have been arranged.

Many people had to spend hours completing all procedures from medical declaration to security screening.

It takes more time for many people, mostly the elderly to fill out their health declaration forms. Lots of them even have to ask airport staff to help.

Cheaper post-Covid-19 air tickets have also fuelled demand.

Passengers are advised to come to the airport at least two hours before departure to ensure they can check in. Passengers need to fulfill their health declaration through the website at https://tokhaiyte.vn. Airport staff will check their declaration before the passenger queue for a security check.

Passengers need to strictly conform to requests by airport staff by moving in proper lanes and preparing their papers for staff at checking areas.

"The airport has asked airports to enhance the staff arrangement to instruct passengers. More staff at security screening areas have also been assigned,” the airport representative added.
