Heavy rains over the past two days have caused landslides in some mountainous areas in the province and flooding in lowland areas. Many residential areas lying along the Kon, Ha Thanh, and Lai Giang rivers have been isolated due to rising floods.

On the afternoon of October 26, some sections of the Road DT 640 in Tuy Phuoc District were put between 40-50 cm under water, causing difficulties for travellers.

Authorities and residents in the mountainous An Lao District were trying to clear a huge amount of rock and soil after a landslide blocked the only road connecting An Trung and An Vinh communes.

The same day, chairman of Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Phi Long came to inspect some major transport works and river dykes in the two districts of Van Canh and Tuy Phuoc ahead of a new tropical depression which may continue to bring heavy rains in the coming days.

The official requested local authorities to properly prepare for the possible flooding and landslides and ensure public safety.
