HCM City authorities have lifted all 51 Covid-19 checkpoints at local gateways since 6 pm on Tuesday as the pandemic has been basically brought under control in the city.

The check-points were set up in the city’s gateway areas from July 9 when the city started applying Covid-19 prevention and control regulations in line with Government Directive 16. The city also established more than 300 other Covid-19 checkpoints on inner-city roads during the social distancing period.

On October 1 when the city eased social distancing measures, the 300 checkpoints were removed.

However, local authorities have continued arranging mobile task forces to detect Covid-19 prevention violations on streets and public places like stations.

Since the fourth Covid-19 wave hit Vietnam, HCM City had recorded 426,000 Covid-19 cases, including 15,515 deaths.

The city has resumed the operations of 12 subsidised bus routes. Meanwhile, all remaining bus routes of the city are expected to be reopened after November 15.
