Study of the United States Programs for Vietnamese candidates

The US Mission to Vietnam is seeking candidates for the Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) Programs for scholars and secondary school educators.

Highly motivated and experienced university lecturers, researchers, and secondary school educators, including teacher trainers, curriculum developers, textbook writers are invited to apply for the program.

Ideal candidates are individuals whose home institution is seeking to introduce aspects of US studies into its curricula, to develop new courses in the subject of the Institute, to enhance and update existing courses on the United States, or to offer specialized seminars/workshops for professionals in US studies areas related to the program theme. The application deadline is 11:59PM, Sunday, January 02, 2022.

Funded by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, SUSIs are intensive postgraduate level academic programs whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and secondary educators the opportunity to deepen their understanding of US society, culture, values, and institutions.

The program will take place at various colleges, universities, and academic institutions throughout the United States over the course of five to six weeks beginning in or after June 2022. Each Institute includes a four-week academic residency component and up to two weeks of an integrated study tour to another region of the United States.

SUSI for Scholars comprise the following themes: American Culture and Values; Journalism and Media; Religious Pluralism in the United States; US Economics and Business; US Foreign Policy; and Workforce Development.

SUSIs for Secondary School Educators focus on providing content and materials for participants to develop high school level curricula about the United States.
