The increasing number of charter flights over recent days have caused overloading at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat airports.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), a total of 47 international flights carrying 6,094 passengers landed at the two airports between January 4-7.

CAAV has asked local airlines to adjust their flight time to avoid congestion but the situation has not improved. Many charter flights have been changed to land at Van Don, Danang, and Cam Ranh airports.

In a letter sent to the Transport Ministry on January 4, CAAV said many domestic and foreign airlines have complained about the government's requirement for quick Covid-19 testing for passengers.

Vietnam has recently resumed international flights, including charter flights for Vietnamese citizens in routes connecting Vietnam with Thailand, the US, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), Laos, Cambodia, and Singapore.
