Flight VN18 from Paris carrying a total of 294 passengers is anticipated to land at Hanoi-based Noi Bai international airport on January 26.

The resumption of regular flights from Europe to the nation by the carrier is anticipated to meet the growing demand of Vietnamese citizens to return home for family reunions on the occasion of the Lunar New Year festival or Tet.

This is one of the first two flights operated by the carrier after a break of nearly two years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with the second flight, VN36 expected to take off from Germany’s Frankfurt and land in Hanoi on the same day.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approximately 140,000 overseas Vietnamese nationals are keen to return home for Tet, with the number likely exceeding 30,000 visitors per week in the near future.

All Vietnam Airlines flights between the country and Europe use wide-body aircraft such as Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 in order to provide passengers with the most comfortable long-haul flight experience.

The airliner has so far restored regular flights to 12 countries and territories, including the United States, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Taiwan (China), Australia, Russia, the UK, France, and Germany.
