Pham Thien Nghia, chairman of the Dong Thap provincial People’s Committee, said the festival will provide an opportunity for the locality to introduce its tourism potential and typical lotus products, whilst simultaneously calling for greater investment in local socio-economic development.

During the three-day festival, a wide range of activities will be held, including an exhibition of lotus products, a photo exhibition on President Ho Chi Minh, as well as a photo and song contest about Dong Thap province.

There will also be performances on lotus tea tasting, lectures on the lotus in Vietnamese culture, and calligraphy on lotus leaves.

The highlight of the festival will be performances by artisans who are to create 200 lotus-made dishes to be decorated in the shape of a giant lotus flower. Visitors will be invited to try these dishes.

Local authorities are set to hold a Famtrip which will introduce tourism products to guests, as well as an auction on the first lotus silk fabric of the Mekong Delta region created by Kinh and Khmer artisans.
