A ship carrying over 1,000 Vietnamese workers from Libya will arrive at the northern port of Haiphong on March 21.

HAMANASU: the ship that will carry the last workers home from the troubled country.

The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA)’s Department for Overseas Labour Management said the ship belongs to a Japanese company named KOYO.

A Brazilian contractor hired the ship, which departed from the port of Benghazi in Libya on March 3, according to the department.

Meanwhile, the last flight carrying Vietnamese labourers from Tunisia is expected to land at Noi Bai International Airport on March 9.

Dao Xuan Hung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that all Vietnamese workers in Libya have been safely evacuated from the other safe havens where they were awaiting return.

Hung confirmed that the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has tightly collaborated with Vietnamese authorities to provide assistance to the workers, including food, water and other essentials.

IOM has also been active in facilitating the transport of Vietnamese labourers to board return flights, he added.

As of March 7, around 8,200 Vietnamese labourers in Libya have been successfully returned home.
