The leading department store group will be adding to its 48 international franchise stores in 17 countries outside the UK and Ireland, with a store set to open in Ho-Chi Minh City in two weeks.
“There are 16 million people within striking distance of the store. It’s a big opportunity,” Chief Executive, Rob Templeman, told The Sun.
The news comes shortly after the acquisition of Danish department store business Magasin du Nord, regarded as the leading department store chain in Scandinavia.
Commenting on the acquisition, Templeman said in a separate statement: “The success of our international business demonstrates that there is demand for our own bought and Designer brands outside our home market.”
Debenhams is also extending its customer reach by making direct sales through its internet website.
