The Vietnam Association of Female Entrepreneurs (VAFE) made debut at a congress in Hanoi on October 19, which elected Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa as the Association’s Chairwoman in the first term, from 2014 to 2019.

Participants at the congress also elected a 43-member executive board of the Association.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciated remarkable contributions of businesswomen over the past time and affirmed the State’s due attention to increasing their role in the nation’s socio-economic development process.

He emphasized that the establishment of the Association will network female business leaders, promote gender equality and protect legitimate rights of businesswomen, especially in the current global economic difficulties.

Phuc suggested the Association to boost dialogues with the Party and Government and propose relevant policies to help businesses and female entrepreneurs iron out their snags.

He also affirmed favourable Government policies for Vietnamese women in general and businesswomen in particular.

Meanwhile, the Association Chairperson, Deputy Minister Thoa said in the next five years, the Association will strengthen relations with State management agencies and relevant sectors and expand cooperative ties with both domestic and foreign organizations.

On this occasion, local businesswomen donated one millions of TH True Milk cups to underprivileged children in coastal and island areas.
