It is part of the largest-ever deal in Southeast
Asia that Auto Motors Vietnam, the authorised dealer of the French car
manufacturer, has signed with the Mai Linh taxi company.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in December,
2015, Mai Linh will import between 10,000 and 20,000 Renault-branded
electric cars to use as taxis.
On the occasion, the French Embassy and the Hanoi People’s Committee
signed an agreement on an environment protection programme.
Jean Noel Poirier, France’s Ambassador to Vietnam, said Hanoi needs to
have equipment to gauge and analyse air quality to allow its citizens to
have real-time information on air quality.
He said France has a lot of experience in this field. All cities in
France have a system to supervise air quality, and France wants to help
Hanoi install a similar system.
