Police and market management agencies in Hanoi have confiscated a large haul of suspect food supplements.

The nutritional supplements were detected following a check by the police and the management market agencies at Slim HMN Vietnam Ltd. Company in Hanoi. The products lacked import papers and bills.

Checking the headquarter and two stores of the company in Thanh Tri District’s Tam Hiep Commune, the market management force discovered 9,924 food supplement products which have no bills to prove the certificate or origin. They revoked around 1,900 kilos empty plastic boxes and bottles without any labels.

Thousands of food supplements, including many of which were said to have imported from Australia, Japan and Germany, but lacked import papers and bills were also found at the four other stores of the company. Among those are many famous names such as Glucosamin, Collagen USA or Plus Min USA.

The Hanoi market management agencies have also seized different kinds of food supplements distributed by Slim HMN Vietnam Ltd. Company sold at many local outlets without legal bills and papers.

On August 31, 32 boxes of Glucosamine sit 1600 supposedly of US and many kinds of other imported nutritional foods sold at a Binh Minh Pharmacy and Medical Equipment Company in Hanoi branch were confiscated due to a lack of import papers.

According to an official from the National Steering Committee against Smuggling, Commercial Fraud and Counterfeiting, the committee has asked the Ministry of Health to announce the quality of these confiscated products. If they are fake, the violators will be strictly punished.
