The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on January 9 announced a report on Tet bonuses offered by businesses nationwide, showing a big disparity.
According to the Molisa, the highest Tet bonus of VND1 billion (USD45,450) is offered by a private company in HCM City
The report covers 23,495 businesses in 63 cities and provinces across the country and applies to 3.72 million workers.
According to the report, the highest Tet bonus of VND1 billion (USD45,450) is offered by a private company in HCM City, while the lowest level is only VND50,000 (USD2.2) from several private firms in Ben Tre, Thai Binh, Tay Ninh and Hai Duong provinces.
This year, the average Tet bonus is around VND4.9 million, down 4% compared that of last year.
In 2016, the highest Tet bonus was VND625 million which was from a foreign-invested firm in Hai Duong Province, while the lowest is VND40,000.
Some banks in Vietnam are also planning to give employees a huge Tet bonuses this year. According to an anonymous source, leaders of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) have decided to award employees with eight months’ worth of salary as a Tet bonus. The bonus will be divided into several parts.
The highest Tet bonus at Technological and Commercial Joint Stock (Techcombank) may reach VND154 million (USD6,800).
