Police in Hanoi have arrested three men involved in the mass production of fake nutritional supplements using well-known international brand names.

Do Dinh Nhan, 36, director of Slim HMN Vietnam Ltd. Company in Hanoi, and his two staff, Vi Van Hoai, 33, and Do Anh Tung, 29, have been arrested and prosecuted for producing and trading in counterfeit goods.

In August 2016, police and market management agencies in Hanoi confiscated a large haul of suspect imported food supplements at Slim HMN Vietnam Ltd. Company. The batch lacked import papers and receipts.

Checking the headquarters and five stores of the company in Hanoi, the market management force seized over 20,000 food supplement products produced with 30 different labels, including many products said to have been imported from the US, Japan and Germany, but lacked import papers and receipts. Among those are many famous names such as Glucosamin, Collagen USA or Plus Min USA.

They also seized around 1,900 kilos of empty plastic boxes and unlabelled bottles and labelling machines.

The goods were tested by the Ministry of Health that announced that all 14 tested samples were fake products.
