The Muong Thanh Son Tra hotel and apartment complex project, which is located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Ngu Hanh Son Ward, is invested by Muong Thanh Group’s affiliate Dien Bien Construction Company No.1.

According to the construction licence given by authorities last year, the project has 42 storeys and two basement levels. The second to fifth storeys in the apartment block are for parking lots, gymnasium, swimming pools and kindergarten and public area. However, during the construction process, the investor had not followed the approved designs and turned these four storeys into a total 104 apartments for sale.

To date, only five households have moved into the complex. Son Tra District authorities have requested the households to move out of the building before January 30 to wait for the settlement. If any household still wanted to stay, they would have to take their full responsibility for possible dangers.

Chairman of Muong Thanh Group Le Thanh Than has been requested to work with local authorities on addressing the violations.

Muong Thanh Group has been accused of a range of violations in its property projects. For instance, the Dai Thanh apartment project in Thanh Tri District was built but without local authority approval. The group has also failed to pay land use fees.

Lots of apartment projects by Muong Thanh Group in Hanoi have been found to have violated fire prevention regulations.

In Nha Trang City in Khanh Hoa Province, Muong Thanh has developed a hotel project as high as 48 storeys, far exceeding the city height limit of 40 storeys. The same problem was also seen at Muong Thanh Mui Ne hotel in Ninh Thuan Province.
