According to the provincial people’s committee, the province has selected a list of 19 projects to seek investments in different areas, including agriculture, tourism and industrial infrastructure.

On this occasion, local authorities also granted investment approval certificates for 31 projects, mostly focusing on agriculture.

Speaking at the event, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that Tien Giang had a favourable location making it a gateway of the Mekong Delta. The province also acts as a link connecting the region with Ho Chi Minh City.

The PM hoped that it will build on the attained successes and remove obstacles and shortcomings to strongly attract investment, thereby creating momentum for fast and sustainable socio-economic development and becoming a driving force of the Mekong Delta region.

Between early 2016 and late June this year, a total of 58 projects with registered capital of VND9.43 trillion (USD406 million) were developed in the province.

The committee reported that by late 2017, the province had 4,456 business compared to just 165 in 1995.
