They signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on commercial cooperation in 2017 and will now offer codeshare flights on domestic destinations in Vietnam and on international flights between Vietnam and Japan operated by Vietjet.

The applicable routes operated by Vietjet include domestic flights (Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang, and Hanoi-Da Nang) and international flights (Hanoi-Osaka).

Codeshare flights are available for travel from October 28. The Hanoi-Osaka route specifically inaugurates operations on November 8.

The two airlines will also aim to expand their codeshare routes in the near future, including other flight services between Japan and Vietnam as well as JAL’s domestic flights and Vietjet’s domestic flights.

Vietjet operates 60 A320 and A321 aircraft on more than 385 flights daily, carrying some 65 million passengers to date on 101 routes covering destinations in Vietnam and internationally, such as Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Mainland China, Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia and Cambodia.

In addition to its high-quality services, diverse ticket classes, and affordable fares, Vietjet also brings its passengers memorable flying experiences on new aircraft with comfortable seats and up to nine delicious hot meals served by the carrier’s friendly cabin crew and many other attractive added-on services. As a new-age carrier, it also offers a higher-class service called “SkyBoss”, which has been very well received among passengers expecting quality services.

JAL was founded in 1951 and became the first international airline in Japan. A member of the oneworld® alliance, the airline now reaches 349 airports in 54 countries and regions together with its codeshare partners with a modern fleet of 230 aircraft.
