Nguyen Thi Ngan in Hanoi’s Ha Dong District who has six years of experience doing Halloween makeup and special effects said it offers her a good opportunity to earn money.

Her group has five members who have done this since they were students.

Ngan herself is a pre-school teacher and every Halloween, she works from 5 pm. Sometimes, she even has to work until mid-night due to the high number of people.

Ngan said that at the peak time, she can earn up to VND10 million (USD454.54) a day as she can serve around 20 customers.

The face painting service has different levels of difficulty. Children often need simple decorations, while young people require more complicated options.

This year, people tend to choose witches, dolls Annabelle or vampires. The prices for these paintings range from VND100,000 - 300,000 each.

Do Van Thanh who belongs to Ngan’s group said that this year they have had more customers and sometimes they even had to turn people away.

Minh Hang, a student from Vietnam Fine Arts University, said that on days running up to Halloween, she can earn money thanks to face painting service.

Halloween costumes can be rented for VND100,000-200,000 each.
