Five BOT toll station company officials detained for fraud

Five officials of a company which operates build, operate and transfer (BOT) toll stations of HCM City-Truong Luong Expressway in the southern region have been arrested for being accused of fraud.

Police have arrested the four people from Yen Khanh Production and Trade Services Company Limited which is the investor of HCM City-Truong Luong Expressway BOT toll stations and one from Xuan Phi Ltd. Company for the investigation on the trading and using illegal software to appropriate the fees at toll stations along the route.

The list consists of Ngo Ba Thang, director of the company’s branch in Long An Province; Tran Van Mien, branch deputy director and head of Cho Dem toll station; To Phuoc Hung, chief accountant of Yen Khanh Production and Trade Service Company Ltd.; Nguyen Thi Kim Hue, accountant of the company and Nguyen Van Hien from Xuan Phi Ltd. Co.

After searching the suspects’ house, police discovered evidence of illegal software being used in toll fee fraud.

According to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, the fee collection on HCM City-Truong Expressway will be temporarily suspended from January 1. Cuu Long Corporation will take care of the route management from Yen Khanh Production and Trade Services Company Limited.

All of Yen Khanh’s staff will be transferred over to Cuu Long.
