Travel companies have reported high demand for tours, particularly overseas trips, during the coming Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1) holiday which lasts for up to five days.

This year, the break for the Reunification Day and Labour Day holiday will last four days from Monday, April 29 to Thursday, May 2.

Travel companies have reported high demand for tours, particularly overseas trips, during the coming Reunification Day (April 30) and Labour Day (May 1)

Although Monday, April 29 is not technically a holiday, workers will get the day off to enjoy an unbroken five-day break, so some will have to make up their time on May 4.

According to many travel firms, they have sold 90-98% of their tours set for this period. Some even have sold out all of their tours and have refused to receive more customers over the recent weeks.

Tran Bao Thu, communications director of Fiditour, said that despite the higher number of customers, tour prices had increased just slightly compared to normal. This was thanks to the increasingly varied types of tours. Many people had also booked their tours quite early, which helped travel companies to work with their partners to avoid price hikes at peak time.

Thu added that for domestic tours, Phu Quoc, Nha Trang, Phu Yen, Danang and Ha Long remained popular.

Meanwhile, regional markets such as Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan or China’s Fenghuang have sold the best.

Pham Van Bay, a representative from Vietravel, said his company has launched more charter flights to Bhutan, Japan and South Korea with the price of VND20-49.9 million (USD869.56-2,173) per tour to meet the rising demand. The firm has provided short inbound tours such as Moc Chau, Sapa, Hue and Danang at VND1.65 – 6.9 million.

Viettravel is expected to serve 25,000 customers during the holiday, up 10% on-year.

Since mid-March, HanoiRedtours has sold out all of its tours during the Reunification Day and Labour Day holiday with customer numbers estimated at some 30% higher than the same period of 2018.

Apart from South Korea, Japan, Europe and America, North Korea has also seen higher demand.
