The Indian-based group Hindustan Computers Limited (HCL) has plan to establish an information and technology (IT) centre in Ho Chi Minh City, which will provide training and recruite some 10,000 IT engineers in the next five years, said HCL Executive Vice President Sanja Gupta.

Meeting with Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen in HCM City on May 17, he said that the southern city has favourable conditions to develop HCL's IT centre project.

He spoke highly of the IT labour forces’ capacity in Vietnam, describing it as an important factor to ensure the success of IT service in the future.

A full report on the plan to build IT centre in HCM City will be submitted to HCL senior leaders for approval this July. Once approved, work on the IT centre will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, he said.

Tuyen, for his part, affirmed that the corporation’s development strategy is in line with the city’s potential and development roadmap.

HCM City pledges to fully implement preferential policies for foreign investors, including those operating in the IT sector, he underlined.

HCL has more than 40 years of experience in IT, with some 140,000 labourers in 44 countries around the world.
