Vingroup sets up new aviation training centre

Vingroup has planned to open an aviation training facilities after setting up their own airline, Vinpearl Air.

Vinpearl Air was registered since April 22 with a chartered capital of VND1.3trn (USD56m) and a headquarter in Long Bien District, Hanoi. The registered businesses include air passenger transport, air cargo transportation, short-stay services, restaurants and mobile catering services.

With Vinpearl Air, Vietnam will have six airlines including Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vietjet, Vasco, Bamboo Airways. Other firms have also expressed interests in this market such as Vietravel and Thien Minh Group.

On July 9, Vingroup announced that they had signed a co-operation agreement with the CAE Oxford Aviation Academy to train pilots and technicians meeting standards set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) as well as by the US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA).

Some 400 pilots and technicians will graduate from VinAviation School and Vinpearl Air Training Centre each year.

According to Vingroup, the aviation training centre will help meet the rapid growth of the local aviation sector and deal with the shortage of skilled pilots and technicians. They will also open courses to train flight attendants, managers and other staff.
