The Hanoi Department of Taxation has made a list of organisations and individuals who have to pay personal income tax for their online business activities since early 2018.

The list includes 47 organisations with a total tax of VND78.6 billion (USD3.43 million) and 526 individuals with a combined tax of VND291.3 billion (USD12.6 million).

Among the list, a local individual had total revenues of VND80 billion (USD3.5 million) from apps sold at Google Play, Apple Store and Youtube.

The department has also guided organisations and individuals to register their operations, declare their income and pay taxes through online transactions.

According to the agency, by October 10, individuals paid roughly VND15 billion in taxes.

The HCM City Tax Department recently ordered a YouTuber who earned VND19 billion in personal income from 2016 to 2018 to pay VND1.5 billion in back taxes.

Last year, an app developer in HCM City, who had created an online game and received an astounding VND41 billion from 2016 to 2017 from Google, had reportedly not made any tax declarations or payments.
