Industrial confectionery products often have high amounts of sugar, so she wanted to buy home-made alternatives which are even sold at higher prices.

The home-made confectionary she has ordered are made from almonds, grapes and dates, pineapples and oats and cost VND3 million (USD130,434).

Doan Thi Trang, a resident in Hoang Mai District, said that she had ordered many sets of home-made confectionery as well as gifts for her relatives on Tet. Each set cost VND350,000 (USD15.21) and include cakes of chocolate, green tea and almond.

“Our children only like home-made confectionery and cakes, I will also use these products for Tet gifts” Trang added.

Home-made confectionery products are now very diverse. Candy nougat is among the best seller which is sold at VND600-800,000 (USD26-34.78) per kilo, depending on different tastes.
