Petroleum prices increase again after pandemic

The retail prices of oil and petrol in Vietnam have increased for a second consecutive time after the Covid-19 pandemic’s initial wave.

According to the decision of the ministries of Industry and Trade and Finance, from 3 pm today, May 28, the retail price of RON92 and biofuel RON95 was raised by VND882 and VND890 per litre. While diesel, kerosene and mazut increased by VND892 and VND875 per litre and VND947 per kilo, respectively.

After the price hike, RON92 and RON95, diesel, kerosene and mazut are sold VND12,402; VND13,125; VND10,749 and VND8,757 per litre and VND9,492 per kilo, respectively.

The ministries have also decided to use VND100 from the stabilisation fund for a litre of RON92 and the figure is VND400 for RON95; VND1,00 for diesel, VND600 kerosene and VND200 for mazut.

The retail price of bio-fuel E5RON 92 was raised to a maximum of VND11,520 (USD0.49) per litre, up VND578, and that of RON95 was set at no more than VND12,235, up VND640 on May 13.

Earlier, fuel prices were cut eight consecutive times due to lower demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
