CPI in July picks up 0.4%

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July increased 0.4% compared to the previous month, according to the General Statistics Office.

Nine of the 11 commodities subject to calculation saw increases in prices including transport up 3.91%, housing and building materials up 0.47%, culture, entertainment and tourism up 0.3%, household equipment and commodities up 0.07%.

The prices of other commodities also rose such as garments, hats and footwear up 0.06%, beverage and tobacco up 0.02%, medicine and health service up 0.02%, education up 0.02% and other services and commodities up 0.17%.

The average CPI in seven months of 2020 picked up 4.07% compared to the same period last year while the CPI in July decreased 0.19% against December 2019 and rose 3.39% in comparison with the same period last year.

The core inflation in seven months of 2020 saw a year-on-year increase of 2.74%.
