The government leader asked concerned agencies to ensure safety for flights.

Vietnam saw the record growth of Thai tourists last year, with 510,000 people, representing an on-year growth of 45.9%. This was also Vietnam's fastest-growing tourist market in the year.

The number of Thai visitors to Vietnam saw an average annual growth of 24.1% between 2015 and 2019.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also urged the Ministry of Transport to consider raising flights to bring in foreign experts and investors and Vietnamese nationals from abroad. The flight plans have to be submitted to the two deputy prime ministers Pham Binh Minh and Vu Duc Dam for the decision.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for working with the Ministry of Transport in mitigating the risk of infection due to overcrowding at airports.

Under the prime minister’s instruction, procedures for foreign experts, investors and workers to enter Vietnam should be sped up.

By this morning, Vietnam had entered the 20th day without community infections. The country’s total Covid-19 patient number stands at 1,068, including 35 deaths.
