Vietnam Local Specialties Fair 2020 kicks off in Hanoi on November 25.

The annual fair was first held in 2014 by the Hanoi People's Committee. Nguyen Van Suu, vice chairman of Hanoi People's Committee also attended the opening ceremony on November 25.

Suu emphasised that the fair aimed to promote products from various localities to the customers in Hanoi. Hanoi authorities have worked together with other departments and agencies to select products that meet food safety and hygiene standards to boost spending and encourage firms to better develop their brands and products.

This would also an opportunity for distributors to find good sources of supplies for year-end events, especially as there were hopes to further open the tourism industry after the Covid-19 pandemic has been controlled.

300 booths have been opened by 200 firms from 63 provinces and cities. Firms from 54 provinces and cities registered to open local specialty food booths. There are various types of food from fresh fruits to confectionery and instant beverage.

The fair is expected to attract up to 90,000 visitors including firms, individual local consumers and tourists. Outstanding products will be selected to join the Vietnamese Products Week held in South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and France to boost exports. The fair will last from November 25 to 29.
