Workers are shocked to find the company being shutdown after Tet Holiday

When hundreds of workers arrived at Delancey Street Furniture Vietnam in Rach Bac Industrial Park on February 17, the gate was closed and they were not allowed to enter. The guards told them that the company had already shut down just before Tet.

Tran Anh Tuan said, "I came to work as scheduled only to find out about the shutdown. We haven't received any notice so we’re a bit confused. Now we have to find another job."

The trade union of Ben Cat Industrial Parks said they had worked with the Management Board of Binh Duong Industrial Parks and Ben Cat Commune Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

According to the reports, Delancey Street Furniture Vietnam's general director signed the decision to dissolve the company on February 6. However, the notice was unable to reach all of the workers because it was also when the Tet Holiday began. After all procedures are completed, the company will pay the remaining wages to the workers.

The local authorities also asked the company to pay wages to the workers until the administrative dissolution is completed by the state. The company was asked to issue an announcement about their plans to the workers.

Binh Duong Confederation of Labour will work with the Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to help the workers find new jobs.
