FDI into Vietnam in Jan-Nov slightly rises

The total foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam between January and November 20 this year has reached USD26.46 billion, up 0.1 percent on-year.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the figure includes USD14.1 billion from 1,577 newly-licensed projects, with the remainder from the added capital in 877 projects.

During the period, the manufacturing and processing industry took the lead with USD14 billion, accounting for 53 percent of the total registered FDI capital. It was followed by power production and distribution with 5.7 billion. The runners-up were real estate and wholesale and retail.

Singapore topped the countries and territories investing in Vietnam during the phase with USD7.6 billion, followed by South Korea and Japan.

The Mekong Delta province of Long An attracted the highest FDI between January and November with USD3.76 billion. HCM City came second with USD3.43 billion, followed by Haiphong, Binh Duong, Can Tho and Quang Ninh.

In the first 10 months of this year, the FDI disbursement in Vietnam was estimated at USD15.15 billion, a decrease of 4.1 percent per cent on-year.
