While very popular in HCM City, charitable meal offers for low-income people have only recently started in Hanoi, and they have received great support from the public.

Pop singer Tuan Hung has also made his restaurant in central Hanoi a regular place for low-income people in the city.

The restaurant, at 39 Lien Tri Street, Hoan Kiem District is offering lunch at only VND1,000 every Monday.

The restaurant opened in June and is attracting many low-income people including street vendors and manual workers in the area.

The owner said he insisted on a nominal VND1,000 price so that the customers felt more comfortable when coming to the restaurant.

The dining experience is something of a unique experience for many of the people sampling the menu.

Good meals served by nice staff in an air-conditioned room.

For poor workers these are substantial meals

The restaurant will expand the offer if it proves popular
