Two of Vietnam’s international airports, Noi Bai in Hanoi and Da Nang, have been rated among the best 30 airports in Asia for dozing off while awaiting a flight, based on overall airport experience as determined by voters in the 2015 Airport Survey by The Guide to Sleeping in Airports.

Noi Bai was ranked 28 on the list and was described by respondents as spacious, smart, airy, spotlessly clean and modern, based on upgraded infrastructure at the new Terminal 2.

"There are always plenty of empty boarding gates -- particularly towards the ends of the terminal -- where one can lie down and take a nap on the numerous fairly comfortable bench seats," it says.

Da Nang International Aiport in the central region ranked 23rd in the list. Last year, Da Nang Airport was also selected among the top three best airports in the world by Hong Kong's Dragon Air, based on a survey of 96 airports world-wide.

This is a good news for Vietnamese aviation officials as last year the survey site listed Vietnam’s two biggest international airports, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat in HCM City, as among the worst in Asia.

In last  year's survey, Noi Bai International Airport ranked fifth worst and was frequently described by the survey's respondents as being hot, chaotic and not especially clean.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport (ranked eighth worst in 2014) was generally described as functional and reasonable with average facilities and inconsistent cleanliness.

Vietnamese airport authorities at the time dismissed the findings of the survey as failing to reflect accurately and objectively the services at both Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat.

While Noi Bai has improved its status on the site this year, Tan Son Nhat is still among the 10 worst airports in Asia, with complaints including bad wifi connection, unclean restrooms and limited restaurant choices.
