The studio where film Kong: Skull Island was shot in the northern province of Ninh Binh has just been restored and will open to tourists on Saturday, according to local authorities.

Vice director of the provincial Department of Tourism, Hoang Thanh Phong, said that the blockbuster film was shot in several places in the province and they decided to restore the studio at the Trang An Landscape Complex in Hoa Lu District for visitors.

Some 40 rattan tents and daily-life tools which are part of the African tribal village depicted in the movie have been set up here. Models of a ship and airplane resembling those used in film will also be exhibited at the site.

According to the Trang An Landscape Management Board, the American studio was not charged for filming, so the local authorities were permitted to restore and turn the site into a tourism spot a certain period of time after the film's release.

The island opens to visitors for free on April 15.

Kong: Skull Island was shot in the central province of Quang Binh and the northern provinces of Quang Ninh and Ninh Binh in February 2016, and was released internationally in March this year.

On March 10, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed the film's director Jordan Volt-Roberts as Vietnam’s tourism ambassador for 2017-2020.
