Former tourism ambassador spends USD1 million for Cannes

The former tourism ambassador Ly Nha Ky revealed a USD1 million plan to promote HCM City tourism at the Cannes Film Festival.

The news was announced on May 9 at a conference about HCM City tourism and Vietnam’s cinema promotion efforts at Cannes. Ngo Phuong Lan, head of Vietnam Cinema Department, and Bui Ta Hoang Vu, head of HCM City Tourism Department, attended the conference.

Ly Nha Ky said she had spent the budget on well-located advertising hoardings.

"Three boards that are 21 metres long and 3 metres high will be placed in front of Majestic Barriere Hotel and the Palais des Festivals where Cannes Festival will be held and celebrities will walk the red carpet," Ky said.


Ky gives over USD350,000 to Vietnam Cinema Department

A board will promote the Vietnamese cinema industry with an image of Son Doong Cave. Two other boards will be used to promote HCM City tourism. Ky will also hold three private events for limited VIP guests for further promotion.

 

  

 


Expected locations for three advertisement boards

Cannes Film Festival opens from May 17 to 28 and celebrating its 70th anniversary. The number of registered attendees doubled compared to last year. It is expected that 4,500 reporters from 300 international channels and news agencies will attend the regular event.

Ly Nha Ky is the head of Investment Trading Services Construction LYNK Co. Ltd. She has been a sponsor to Cannes' Cinéfondation and said she wanted to contribute to Vietnam's tourism and cinema industry.
