Thousands of people flocked to the capital city of Hanoi to see the largest-ever parade in the nation’s history.

Early this morning, October 10, major streets such as, Lieu Gia, Kim Ma and Nguyen Thai Hoc were overcrowded with flows of visitors. They tried to squeeze themselves to find seats near the road surface. Many others also stand on balconies to enjoy the performance.

Hustling in the midst of the mobs, Nguyen Van Thang, a 7th grade pupil from Thach That District in the outskirt of Hanoi, said all members in his family came to Nguyen Thai Hoc Street at 4:00am today to wait for the performance.

"Never have I seen a parade. I am eagerly looking forwards to the delegation to travel through this street”, he shared.

Phung Quang Hao, 70 years old, from Viet Tri City in the northern province of Phu Tho, said he came to a relative’s house in Hanoi on October 9 to wait for the event. Last night, he could not sleep well due to a sense of stirring feeling.

"I have witnessed many marches, but this is the biggest-ever one in Vietnam to date and I cannot miss it,” he said with joy.

Nguyen Thi Na, 62 years old, from Quynh Phu district in northern Thai Binh province, said most of residents in her village wanted to go to Hanoi for the march, however, many of them could not take coaches. She decided to stay on the pavement of Bo Ho Street for the night before the event to keep a seat.

These days, flowers and flags can be seen everywhere in Hanoi. Local people as well as visitors shared the feeling of happiness and excitement to enjoy the scared anniversary atmosphere.
