Ha Long to spend VND1.7trn to preserve fishing village

The authorities of Ha Long City have made plans to spend nearly VND1.7trn (USD74.83m) to preserve and promote the culture of fishing communities.

  

Ha Long City authorities aim to preserve Cua Van Fishing Village


The project, which was announced on November 21, will be carried out at Cua Van, the largest fishing village in Ha Long Bay, and Cai Xa Cong resettlement area. The city authorities also hope to create new tourism products and services to attract tourists and prolong stays.

Objects that have the values of a cultural heritage are fishing tools, fishing methods, floating houses and classes, and the fishing boat of various types which is not only the means of transportation but also the fishermen's mobile homes.

Giao duyen (mutual love) singing, folk beliefs and traditional festivals are part of the Ha Long’s cultural heritage.

An exhibition will be opened at Cua Van to introduce to tourists the lifestyle and means of livelihood of the fishermen with documentaries, giao duyen singing performances, and the songs sung by fishermen on the sea. Tourists can also experience a fisherman’s life for one day.

A photo exhibition about the changes in the fishing villages will be held at Cai Xa Cong resettlement area.
