Tet, or the traditional lunar new year, is the biggest and most important holiday for Vietnamese, and the Hanoi City People’s Committee announced on January 14 the organization of fireworks displays on February 4.

Fireworks to light up the sky at 30 locations around capital to celebrate Tet.

City authorities are organizing the displays so that residents throughout Vietnam’s capital have the chance to enjoy the festive celebrations. Fifteen-minute-long fireworks shows honoring the holiday are scheduled for 12 midnight at 30 locations around town, with each display custom-made for specific districts and neighborhoods.

Different to last year, there will be a combination of high-range and low-range fireworks at six locations: Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake, My Dinh Stadium, Thong Nhat Park, Thanh Tich Park, and Son Tay Citadel. Each will feature 500 high-range fireworks and 60 low-range firework scaffolds. Three places - Hoan Kiem Lake, West Lake and My Dinh Stadium - have special fireworks artistic performances. Music and artistic performances around Hoan Kiem Lake are also planned to accompany the fireworks show.

Meanwhile, at commercial centers, stadiums, and parks in Hanoi, the firing boards are set to launch fireworks that burst at low heights, featuring 120 low-range firework scaffolds in each location. Major General Bui Trong Quynh added that the Capital Command held a training course for 257 officials and soldiers who will operate the fireworks.
