Masterplan to turn Ba Den Mountain into national tourism site approved

The authorities of Tay Ninh Province announced on February 13 that the masterplan to turn Ba Den (Black Virgin) Mountain into a national tourism site has been approved by the prime minister.

From 2019 to 2025, the provincial authorities will build a detailed plan, basic infrastructure and tourism brand for Ba Den Mountain. From 2025 to 2035, the site will be completed with service areas and managed according to the approved planning.

Ba Den Mountain site covers 2,903 hectares across Ninh Son, Ninh Thanh communes in Thanh Tan Commune and a Suoi Da Commune in Duong Minh Chau District. It is estimated that Ba Den Mountain will welcome five million visitors by 2025 and eight million visitors in 2035. The new tourism site will create 4,000 jobs.

The site will include a religious and historic area. The southern mountain foot will be used for accommodation services for spiritual tourism, covering 77.05 hectares. The eastern mountain foot which covers 389.64 hectares will have themed eco-tourism areas which connect with the shopping area.

Several services will be set up on 423.09 hectares of agricultural land which will be used for eco-tourism. Visitors can see how farmers work and can participate. This is also an opportunity to promote local produce.

On the southwestern side, there will be a cultural village, herbal garden, lakeside ecological park, themed park along the path to the top of Ba Den Mountain. There will also be a sports area with a golf course and related services that cover 325.25 hectares.

The remaining protected forest land covering 1,123 hectares will be managed under the Law on Forest Protection and Development.
