This is the largest and most famous buffalo market in the north-west and bustles from early morning.

The market is held on a large land plot in Bac Ha Town.

Most of the sellers are local people. Those who live quite far from Bac Ha Town usually leave home at around 4 am. 

Most mountainous households use buffaloes for farming. 

Many of the sellers come from other localities such as Nghe An and Thanh Hoa. 

There are different ages and kinds of buffaloes including for farming, meat or fighting 

Buffaloes with white or cream hair are often expensive than black varieties 

Many families in Bac Ha live on buffalo breeding 

Customers carefully examine the animals before deciding to buy 

The market lures lots of visitors  

The buffaloes are priced from VND20 million (USD869.56) to VND60 million (USD2,600), depending on their variety 

The market has maintained its unique character.
