Ha Giang authorities to demolish illegal building on Ma Pi Leng

Ha Giang Department of Construction said they would demolish most of the seven-storey building illegally built on Ma Pi Leng Pass. A small part will remain as a tourist pit stop.
They suggested keeping a small part of the building as a tourist stop and remove the rest of the building. Trees would be planted on the empty land. Meo Vac District authorities were asked to carry out the plan and complete everything by November 15.
The investors must complete legal procedures for the remaining part within 60 days. The provincial authorities were suggested consulting with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before issuing final decisions.
"We have proposed to only keep the part near the road as a pit stop as recommended by UNESCO experts," Hung said.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the building is built outside of the protected area.
The seven-storey building has 500 square metres of surface area. The owner was only able to provide the building's blueprint and failed to present any other legal papers. The owner admitted that he only a land use right certificate for agricultural land and hadn't converted the land-use purpose.
