Cattle market busy with year-end session

U Market in Dai Son Commune, Nghe An Province is the largest of its kind in the northern region with the buffalos and cows come from Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.


 

U Market in Nghe An

Each month, U Market only has six sessions, starting from 4 am to 8 am, and thousands of buffaloes and cows are transferred to various places in Vietnam. Animals, people and vehicles already gathered at U Market even before sunrise. During the year-end session, nearly 1,000 cattle have been traded.

 

  

Thousands of animals brought to U Market

Phan Dinh Cuong said he was able to sell 10 sets of cows. Thanks to the high prices at year-end, his family will have a good amount of money for Tet. Pham Cong Tam said he had bought 14 cattle which he would raise and re-sell after Tet.

The cows and buffaloes were separated into different areas. Most of the cattle are sold for meat. Depending on the size and weight that the cost for a cattle can reach tens of millions of VND. An adult cow was sold for VND50m at the session. The market has boosted cattle rearing business in Dai Son Commune and neighbouring communes.


  

Bringing the cattle to customers

Nguyen Van Hoi from Tru Son Commune said his family was able to have stable incomes thanks to the cattle raising and U Market.

The transporters were always ready outside of the market for new customers.

Nguyen Van Hai, vice chairman of Dai Son Commune People's Committee, said the locals there had been raising cattle for generations. They will continue working to ensure smooth management and security as U Market is becoming a famous destination to find cattle.
