Vietnam expects to be among three leading tourist destinations in SEA by 2025

The Government has set target to turn Viet Nam among three leading tourist destinations in terms of tourism growth in Southeast Asia by 2025, according to its latest tourism development strategy.

The Government also expects to make Viet Nam among 50 nations with the highest tourism competitiveness in the world within the next five years.

The tourism sector is projected to create around 5.5-6 million jobs, including two million direct jobs and bring about total revenue of US$77-80 bilion annually, contributing 12-14 percent to the national gross domestic product.

The country will strive to lure at least 35 million foreign arrivals and 120 million domestic holiday makers by 2025.

In the following five years, the Government sets goal to make tourism a spearhead and sustainable economic sector and become one of 30 countries in the world with the best tourism competitiveness.

Total tourism revenue is expected to increase to US$130-135 billion, contributing 15-17 percent to the GDP, and generate around 8.5 million, including three million direct jobs.

Inbound tourists are projected to grew 8-10 percent annually to at least 50 million, according to the strategy approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

To realize the set goals, the overridingpriority will be given to the completion of tourism policies, as well asdevelopment of infrastructure, tourism workers and products.

The strategy also attaches importance topublic-private partnerships in sustainable tourism development. Advancedtechnology and high-quality human resources are seen as breakthrough elementsto build a professional, quality and competitive tourism industry.
