Tourists have travelled to Mu Cang Chai District in Yen Bai Province from late September to early October in order to capture the beauty of the ripening fields.

Mu Cang Chai is 180km away from Yen Bai City. It is located at the foot of Hoang Lien Son mountain range, at an altitude of 1,000 metres above sea level.

From Hanoi, tourists can travel along Son Tay Street to Phu Tho Province and continue to Yen Bai Province with forest, hilly tea plantations and palm trees along the winding roads. The 300km-trip also offers beautiful scenery of the northern mountains on the way.

The harvest season in Mu Cang Chai is the most beautiful from September 15 to October 20. La Pan Tan Commune is well-known for its terraced fields raised by H'Mong people.

Mu Cang Chai has nearly 500 hectares of rice terraces. In 2007, it was named as the National Site Heritage.
