Quang Nam offers 50% discounts to attract tourists

Quang Nam Province has continued to reduce 50% of entrance fees to some tourist sites including Hoi An Town, Cham Islands and Bay Mau Coconut Forest.

The Covid-19 pandemic has badly affected the economy, especially the tourism sector. During the 23rd meeting session, Quang Nam People's Council approved a deeper discount plan in Hoi An and financial support policy to the tourism sector.

According to Phan Viet Cuong, chairman of Quang Nam People's Council, some sectors, like the tourism industry, need stimulus policy to recover.

The provincial authorities will offer 50% discount entrance fees to Hoi An Town, Cham Island which is recognised as a world biosphere reserve by UNESCO, and Bay Mau Coconut Forest. They will also provide VND10bn (USD431,000) support to organise a chain of events to stimulate tourism in Quang Nam. Each event will be given as much as VND500m.

They will spend VND390m (USD16,800) to help 13 historical sites owned by private individuals. Each location will get VND5m a month.

VND500m (USD21,500) will be provided to organise the meeting, incentive, conference, event (MICE) tour groups that have over 100 members staying in Quang Nam.
