Tet Festival opens in HCM City

A cultural fair is being held in HCM City to mark the Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year or Tet Festival.




Many stalls featuring traditional food, handicrafts, and bonsai trees are being displayed at the Vietnamese Tet Festival which opened at the Youth Cultural House in HCM City on January 16.



As many as 120 yellow apricot bonsai trees were arranged along Pham Ngoc Thach Street and the yard of the Youth Cultural House.



The beautiful setting has attracted lots of visitors who are coming to enjoy the Tet atmosphere and take photos.



According to the director of the Youth Cultural House, Nguyen Hong Phuc, they have tried to create typical scenery and products of the southern region for every Tet fair.



 

"This year we have invited many craftsmen from various traditional craft villages to display their work and products at the fair," he said. "Visitors can also enjoy many local specialities and take photos in an area that features yellow apricot flowers, red lanterns, Tet couplets, and calligraphy. There’s also live To He (toy figurine) making and a model of a floating market in the air."



The third festival is scheduled to last until January 30.
