Hoi An to offer free wireless internet service
The Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee has approved a VND20 billion (US$960,000) project to provide free wireless internet services (wi-fi) in the UNESCO heritage town of Hoi An.
The project aims to establish 350 wi-fi hotspots and a system administration centre to provide free wireless internet coverage throughout the old town of Hoi An.
The service is expected to promote the town’s image and attract more tourists to Hoi An by offering them easy and convenient access to information.
Investment for the project is sourced from provincial budget and local businesses.
The province will also allocate VND150 million (US$7,200) each month to cover the system’s maintenance and operation costs.
