Homestay service in Ly Son Island attracts tourists

More households in Ly Son Island have developed homestay services, particularly in Dao Be (Small Island) where high-rise buildings are not allowed to be built.

Local people use natural and environmentally-friendly materials for the homestays.

Bui Thi Hong, a resident on the Small Island of Ly Son said that her family has built 10 houses which can accommodate a total 40 people without using reinforced concrete. Visitors can experience the lives of the locals such as diving to see coral and fishing overnight.

Small Island is now home to 10 homestay facilities with the price of VND150-350,000 (USD6.52-15.2) per room per night.

Most of the homestay owners are local farmers who are familiar with garlic and onion planting.

Huynh Thi Kieu, Giao Bien homestay owner, said that at night travellers can enjoy outdoor parties by sea or explore activities of islanders.

Dang Van Sam who owns Ly Son Bungalow said due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he focused on upgrading facilities. He has offered a 20% discount on room prices since the resumption of tourism.

Tran Thi Hong, a visitor from the northern province of Nam Dinh said that she was really impressed by the island’s beauty. She also liked the local specialties.
