Sapa sees tourist surge on Tet

The northern city of Sapa has witnessed a sharp rise in tourists during the 2023 Tet Lunar New Year.

Sapa attracted 30,699 travellers between January 22-24, the first three days of the Tet Lunar New Year, including 8,000 foreigners, earning total revenues of VND110 billion (USD4.65 million).

Sapa has held different activities during the holiday period, including events to feature local ethnic cultural traditions and customs.

Local hotel room occupancy was around 40 percent on the second day of the Tet Lunar New Year, while the rate was up to 95 percent between the third and the fifth day of the Lunar New Year.

Ta Van and Muong Hoa communes have drawn the most tourists. The room coverage in these two localities would be roughly 80 percent between January 24-29.
