Five pristine caves have been found in the central province of Quang Binh by the British Cave Research Association.

The Hung Tru 1, Hung Tru 2, Hung Tru 3, Hung Ka Vong 1 and Hung Ka Vong 2 caves are located in Tuyen Hoa District's Lam Hoa Commune and run for a total 3,349 metres.

Hung Tru 1 is the longest at 1,919 metres long.

According to the British experts, this is the initial result of their exploration in Lam Hoa which may be home to many other large caves to be discovered.

Nguyen Van Phuc, vice party secretary of Lam Hoa Commune, said that the British team stayed in the locality for five days. The newly-found caves offer tourism development potential for Quang Binh.

Quang Binh is one of the biggest cave hubs in Vietnam with Son Dong being recognised as the biggest in the world. The province is also known for other famous caves such as Phong Nha, Thien Duong and Tu Lan.
